The faces behind the scenes

Small Planet Big Plans is Formed

Aliya De Grazia, SPBP's executive director, realized that it was possible to raise money in small to medium amounts in the US.  By paying for the schooling of the neediest students, SPBP can support them and cover the cost of books.  By directing this new money to provide the infrastructure for the water system, we can also provide stability and basic infrastructure to the village, the local public school, and the surrounding area. A new funding/sustaining model was formed to provide funds to educate students and direct the spending of these funds towards community needs.  By working directly with a local Mission Manager, we ensure that there will always be a local person managing and accountable for both the financial and sustainability aspects of the project.

What We Are

Small Planet Big Plans is a grassroots organization committed to the sustainability of each and every program it takes on.  This both deepens our impact as we are committed to the total success of each project we need to expand organizationally to expand our impact on the ground in Africa.  We are less about lofty statements and more about roll-up-your-sleeves and get to it results producing projects.

Our Little Corner of the World

One of the only maps we ever found is the one below. We believe it was done by Father Davis when he first arrived around here in the 1960s.  Mulot is marked by a small green circle.  Father, then Bishop and now retired, Davis did not leave out the roads on this map, because there were none and there are not many more now.
